TITLE: The Usual Suspects (1995)
WRITERS: Christopher McQuarrie
DIRECTORS: Bryan Singer
ACTORS: Stephen Baldwin (McManus), Gabriel Byrne (Keaton), Benicio Del Toro (Fenster), Kevin Pollak (Hockney), Kevin Spacey (Verbal), Chazz Palminteri (Dave Kujan), Pete Postlethwaite (Kobayashi)
The first actor is Kevin Spacey who would be classified as a wild card actor and even commentator actor. The second is Benicio Del Toro who would have to be classified as a interpreter actor because of the diverse roles he plays. The final actor is Stephen Baldwin who would be listed as a star actor.
Kevin Spacey is considered to be a wild card actor or commentator. The reason why I chose commentator actor is because of the roles he plays. He almost plays the same role in each movie but they are vastly different. His appearance is never crazy or to different and he typically will talk the same. The Usual Suspects and also House of Cards are great example of how his voice speaks volumes but he typically sounds pretty much identical from role to role. Kevin Spacey is difficult to pinpoint as one type of actor but he definitely brings his own style to the film when he is on it. Benicio Del Toro is considered to be an interpreter actor because of the diverse roles that he plays. In The Usual Suspects he plays a overly flamboyant con artist and then he can play a drug fueled person in the movie Fear and Loathing. I would put him in with Johnny Depp and the personal stamp they put on each person they are playing. The last actor is Stephen Baldwin. Typically when I think of him I think of his brother or the run in's with the law. I classified him as a star based on his last name and the fact that typically the general public knows about his personal life normally because of headlines on the news (Goodykoontz, 2014). Stephen Baldwin does not really have an memorable role except for maybe The Usual Suspects or Bio Dome.
Kevin Spacey would have to be placed in the wild card slot almost always. He is so hard to pinpoint into an exact group of actors. He plays roles that are really similar but yet so far apart and typically he is extremely convincing with the job that he is doing. The audience can tell he is really committed to whatever he is doing on the screen.
